The Building Services Forum Event
Laura and Tom from SCC recently attended The Building Services Forum held at the Building Centre, London on 6th June.
The event was a fantastic opportunity to network with industry leaders, exchange innovative ideas, and stay ahead of the latest trends in building services. Laura and Tom had insightful discussions on sustainable building practices, the future of smart buildings, and cutting-edge technologies transforming our industry.
The forum was packed with information and presentations across a variety of subjects, offering new understanding of net zero guidance and regulation, whole life carbon (operational and embodied), low carbon heating, hybrid ventilation systems, sustainable water-saving energy solutions, as well as the policy stumbling blocks the industry is currently facing.
Throughout the day, speakers conveyed the important role of retrofitting existing buildings as we strive for sustainability, reduced environmental impact, and compliance while remaining cost-effective.
The Building Services Forum closed with a fantastic panel debate – Breaking Down the Barriers, masterfully moderated by Ewen Rose, freelance journalist, PR Consultant, Chair of CIBSE Young Engineers’ Awards, and secretary of BESA’s Indoor Air Quality Group. Both panellists and visitors enjoyed the debate, opening dialogue around this subject and ending the day on a perfect note.
Looking ahead, we are excited about the next Building Services Forum, sponsored by Mitsubishi Electric, which will be held on 28th November 2024 at the Building Centre, London. This event will focus on reducing carbon emissions in heating and cooling, a critical topic as industry experts believe that the UK’s goal to decarbonise heating and cooling will only be successful through a combination of low carbon technologies.
A big thank you to the organisers for hosting such an informative and engaging forum. We're eager to implement these new insights and continue driving excellence in our services.
