One Year of Employee Ownership: What's Changed at SCC?
Has anything really changed?
Employee Ownership Day marks just over a year that SCC became employee owned.
The business structure has not changed, the office has not changed, the service areas we provide have not changed.
BUT
Our team has changed. They may not even see it, as small subtle changes have huge long-term impacts. Over the last year we have put lots of processes in place for improvements on key business areas that we knew needed to improve. Our team our collaborating, communicating and deliberating effectively between each other and these improvements are spilling out onto our projects.
We are so proud of everyone in the team. Every single person has seen improved performance over the last year, and we are incredibly lucky to have such talent in house.
Everyone is accountable, we all have a stake in SCC and we all want a share of our hard work. We want to do a great job, we want to improve and grow and now that is a shared effort across the team. We have seen quicker decision making, more ownership, asking for clarity, openness with challenges and mistakes – we all make them!
As Catherine Muldoon from Employee Ownership Ireland put in her latest post – Succession planning is about the staff who have given years of their lives to a business through hard work and rewarding them with employee ownership goes a long way. With 3 daughters in the business the option was always there for Stephen to sell to family, but the business is so much more than that, especially to the people who helped build it.
To our team – thank you. You give so much.
